General Information and Our Farm:

The Rüppell Parrot is endemic to the northwest part of Namibia.

The original farmhouse was built just prior to the First World War (1914 - 1918). The main building has been renovated and additional rooms erected in the same style, retaining the historic character of the farmstead. The third generation of the Van Rensburg family now manage the farm.

Farm Rüppell offers guest accommodation of 5 en-suite rooms. Guests can enjoy a peaceful farm atmosphere where time stands still. Farm Rüppell is a operational farm ranching with cattle, sheep and milking goats.

There are no fixed activities these are arranged according guests personal requirements and prevailing weather conditions.

- Tailor-made safaris to Etosha, Sossusvlei, Swakopmund, Kaokofeld and Damaraland (maximum of 3 persons)

Accommodation on Farm Rüppell:

Accommodation is provided in comfortable rooms with en-suite shower and WC, with a communal dining room, veranda and an open fireplace for your exclusive use at any time.

Farm Rüppell is provided with 220V electricity for the convenience of those who want to make use of modern day communication technology when needed.

Liability and Insurance:

Although Farm Rüppell takes all reasonable precautions for the client's safety, no liability will be accepted for injuries, accidents or any losses incurred. We advise our clients to take out personal insurance against illness or accidents before departure.

Climate:

Winter climate (May to August) implies cold nights and mornings (0-5 degrees Celsius) but mostly pleasant during the day, with clear skies. Summer climate (September to April - 30+ degrees Celsius), implies hot days and cool nights. Occasional rain can be expected during the summer months.

Green khaki clothes are recommended with comfortable boots, casual or tennis shoes for evenings. Jackets or sweaters for early mornings or evenings. Hats and sun screen lotion are recommended for protection against harsh sunlight. Light clothing is recommended for summer days.

Laundry is done daily.

Health:

We advise our clients to start a course of malaria medicine about two weeks prior to arrival in Namibia.

Rüppell Ranch is ± 300km from our capital, Windhoek and a 4 hour drive from
Hosea Kutako International Airport to Farm Rüppell - your destination for arrival and departure.
The farm covers approximately 18 000 acres - all privately owned land.
The game is free roaming.
